PDI Global
[ Village Development Partnership ]

 ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

The mission of PDI is to assist local institutions worldwide to improve the quality of life of rural poor by initiating integrated health, community development, educational, and environmental conservation projects.

PROGRAM AREAS

1) Integrated Community Development through the Village Development Partnership
2) Reproductive Health
3) Population and Environment
4) HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care (including Positive Partnerships)
5) Tsunami Relief and Reconstruction
6) NGO Sustainability

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT APPROACH

Each of these program areas places a strong emphasis on local participation, nurturing the belief that local people are best suited to shape and sustain their own development. In this regard, village communities are not only the beneficiaries, but also planners, managers and leaders. PDI also supports institution-building with local partner organizations. The model utilized by PDI is the Village Development Partnership (VDP), which is a serious endeavor to eradicate poverty by partnering a rural village with a sponsoring company or organization. It addresses development in the five key areas: community empowerment, income generation, education, environmental promotion, and health.
